  Are you interested in learning about setting achievable goals and saving for your future? Bethel New Life’s Smart Savers Program can help you!

What is the Smart Savers Program?
Smart Savers helps individuals and families save money for the following goals:

  • Purchasing a home
  • Starting or continuing a small business
  • Post-secondary education.

Program participants save money in an Individual Development Account with a two-to-one match and attend an eight-week financial education course where they learn to develop financial planning, budgeting, and debt management skills. In its fifth consecutive year, the Smart Savers program has enrolled over 150 savers.
 
Who is eligible to participate in the Smart Savers Program?
You must meet the following criteria to meet program eligibility:

  • You must be 18 years old or older
  • Chicago residency
  • Have an income to save (TANF included)
  • Meet federal low/middle income guidelines
  • Demonstrate a commitment to save  

How do I apply for the Smart Savers Program?
Applications are available immediately following the information sessions. To complete the application you will need the following items:

  • Your Social Security Number
  • Photo identification such as driver’s license, state ID or passport
  • Proof of income, such as your prior year tax return, most recent payroll check stub, or prior year W-2 Form(s) or 1099 Form (if self-employed)
 If you are a recipient of Social Security Insurance or Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF), you will need a bank statement, medical card, check stub or letter of approval for benefit eligibility.

  New Start Checking is designed for people who currently do not have an account with a financial institution. If this is your first time opening an account, or if you’re experiencing a problem opening an account due to mismanagement of a previous account, New Start Checking is the class for you.

New Start Checking allows you the opportunity to open an account that works for you.

   
  How does “New Start Checking” work?
Once you have completed the “New Start Checking” class, you will receive a certificate which you will need to bring with you to open an account. Simply take your certificate and required documents to a Park National Bank Personal Banker.

  Check Cashing

The Community Savings Center offers a low-cost alternative, where you’ll be welcomed and always treated with respect.
 
  Checking / Saving Account
